What's With All the Potholes?
A dear and beloved relative of mine has been in the hospital since I last posted. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to stay on track most days because he has been requiring 24 hour care. I'm really down right now and haven't made the best food choices these last few days; my life has been completely turned upside down and inside out. I'm sick of this yo-yo dieting and I'm sick of having no control over the circumstances in my life. I want to do E2L and I need to do it. I need to do this for myself. For too long, I've allowed others to dictate how I live my life. Now, I've got to step up and do this for myself!

when a major tumult like this occurs sometimes you just have to step back in your expectations
make small attainable goals...
1) when visiting in hospital find stairwells and climb stairs 5 or 10 flights, whatever is w/in you current range
(upon arriving, upon departing)
2) eat fresh veggies, prepared tabouli, fruit, whatever you can find thats even NEAR ETL.
(I buy tabouli and a parsley bunch and put in into the tabouli-- I know the tabouli has added salt so is not completely ETL compliant but it makes my life easier and there is something to be said for that-- another thing I eat prepared hummus-- adding more chickpeas to 'dilute' the sodium-- I love it as a carrot dip and will make a meal out of that)
MOST IMPORTANT get plenty of rest and pamper youself in whatever way you can...when my dad was dying I would go and take saunas and looooong showers at the gym (whether or not I was working out)

Hi Rosy
I'm sorry to hear that you have a loved one that is sick. I've been thinking about you and how you're doing a lot lately! As always BadYoga has a lot of great advice. I agree with doing the best you can to eat food that is close to ETL. As Dr. F says, even if you make small changes in your diet toward an ETL lifestyle you're doing good things for yourself! I know it's probably hard right now not to eat for convenience or comfort but try to relieve stress and comfort yourself with non-food related activities, and make sure to keep in touch with good friends that you can vent to and that will help you feel better.
Hope you post again soon,
Nicole

Hi Rosy :) HUG
I'm very sorry to hear about your loved one being ill. When something like this happens, it really throws your whole life into a tailspin, all right.
I think the fact that you just told us exactly what it is that you NEED to do for yourself right now is the key that will open the door to what you WILL do for yourself.
Once you actively begin doing things for yourself in order to be healthier in mind and body, you will then be able to deal with the issues that life is throwing at you day-by-day because you will feel stronger and healthier and more in control of your destiny so you just DO what you said you'll do!!!!!
I'm pulling for you AND for your loved one...hope by the next time we talk, things are looking better.
